More MNR Gala Photos, LM 319s, C2C 387s

Aydan here now, for my input on recent events.

Further to Harry's post for the Mid-Norfolk Railway Diesel Gala, between 1st April and 3rd April, I now bring you some of my own photos too.

Here is 66426, suprisingly at the gala. This wasn't planned, but it stepped in when 56006 suffered fault at Leicester.

For some videos of the event, we recommend you to go and visit Steve's Bus And Train blog. A full review of the day there too.

The star of the show was of course 41101, which I had the opportunity to bash.

Harry: 'C2C have ordered 6 Class 387 units, similar to those at Gatwick Express totalling 24 carriages to bring their fleet up to 320 carriages.

These units will enter service at the end of this year thanks to the partnership with Bombardier and the DFT. These trains are leased until 2019 - a short term solution.' Thanks editor Harry, he'll be back soon.

C2C add:
These will be leased for three years, until 2019. From 2019, they will be replaced by the existing plans we have for 68 new carriages on the route. We have now started the formal procurement process for the first trains in this new fleet, and we hope to appoint a manufacturer this summer.
This is the most significant increase in capacity on c2c for over a decade. Thank you to you all for bearing with us while we have been working so hard on getting these new trains. We really have heard loud and clear that a number of peak-time services are very busy, and now we have the right solution for these issues that you have raised.

Finally, further to the post on the blog back in February, Daniel has confirmed the 319 units transferring to London Midland, since they lost their 321s to scotrail (conversion to 320 units to integrate with rest of fleet).

He states 319216 in LM livery as shown here. 013/429/460 are in white and 441/457 are in FCC purple.

The seventh unit is not yet talked of, but we do know this 319 fleet will be used for the St Alban's branch and also peak time services from Euston.

Cheers, Aydan. Back next Sunday.
